AJIWOGBO ELEYIN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER: A DREAM COME THROUGH

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie; though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry”. – Habakkuk 2:3 The Ajiwogbo Health Center project which has been a dream has now become a reality. Although there were different turns, detours and bumpy rides, it eventually became a success. The launching of the Ajiwogbo Health Center on the 20th of April was heralded by a two day event. First day was an Easter Crusade at Aiyetoro village, some distance from Ajiwogbo Eleyin, while the second day was the main launching of the Health Center. The crusade witnessed salvation, deliverance of all kinds to the glory of God. There was free medical consultation and check up for the Ajiwogbo Community, which was handled by medical professionals, who volunteered for the trip. Drugs were also dispensed for free for after adequate check-up had been done. Cross section of the Counseling session During the course of the official launching of the Health Centre, the Baale of the Ajiwogobo Eleyin Community was present, to witness the epoch making event. Present a well was the project coordinator/supervisor (Segun Alao) of the Health Centre, who monitored the progress of it coming to life. Not forgetting the person who God gave the vision to and the President of Solutions To Our Generation (STOG), Pastor Sinmi Alao. Dr. Victor, the medical consultant who has been giving professional advice during the cause of setting up the Health Centre was also on ground. As an integral activity of any STOG missions activity, there was counseling for the people of the community which was hinged on the gospel of salvation. This was the main reason of the outreach; because of Jesus Christ, who is the great physician and healer. Pastor Sinmi (in middle) with the Baale and his wife Why Ajiwogbo? A brief history. A divine Mission Mission through divine instruction from God discovered Ajiwogbo in 2014 and since then we have laboured for souls on this rural mission field starting with welfare and communities engagement while researching into this community. 2015 marked a major breakthrough for our work in this community. Before then it was discovered that the only ancient Anglican building in the village had been turned into a shrine with majority of the members practicing iidolatry or Islam. This became a burden that further deepened the urge to bring God’s Light into this village. There was a massive and great outpour of God’s presence during an outreach held in this community four years ago and it was during this period that the Baale (village head) gave his life to Christ alongside neighboring Baale’s in attendance. Frequent visitations and follow-up of new convert have continued, all coordinated by the STOG missions. Medical Mission The closest primary healthcare facility to the Ajiwogbo community is kilometers away at Lalupon and it is inaccessible to the people of Ajiwogbo thanks to distance. In 2017 during counseling at the annual STOG MISSIONS Medical Outreach it was discovered that about 80% of the women had lost at least a child to one disease or another. Few women also die at child birth and others die from minor infections or fatal wounds like snake bites. We thank God that right now in the year 2019 that many members of this community have given their lives to Christ even though they are still being groomed to be disciples of Jesus Christ through adult literacy programs and other programs designed by STOG for the community to engage in. The work of five years has begun to bear visible fruits… The Community Health Centre was created to serve the host community and other nearby communities around Ajiwogbo Eleyin. The Health Centre would be run by professional medical personnel (volunteers and non-volunteers alike) with the people paying little for the medical services rendered. STOG people! Happy People! What next? Since the Ajiwogbo project has reached a level of self-sustenance to quite a large extent, STOG Missions train moves to Olupona Community, also in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State. We are excited about what God is going to do there!
