REVAMP

The REVAMP Street Outreach program is geared towards revamping the street child.

Through this program, we have gained much discovery. A good number of children on the street have been denied their childhood and often wander/are sent to the streets to fend for themselves.

On the 16th of April, 2022, STOG Missions organized an outreach to engage over one hundred and fifty(150) street children at Iwo Road round about, Oyo state. There was no better way to celebrate the death and resurrection of our LORD JESUS CHRIST than to spread the Gospel and share the light.

It’s not hard to feel the pain of these children when you hear them share their stories and struggles. Many of them have dreams and wish to go to school but can not afford to. Thus, they are forced to hawk various foods or snacks on the road in order to have a means of livelihood. Some are orphans or are faced with the harsh realities of single parenthood.

The children boldly expressed their grievances and their desire for change fostered with the flaunting of placards that read; “I choose School not Street”, “I am a child not an adult”,  “I have hope, so I smile”. It was indeed a game changer as these children, determined, pledged with the support of the Mission, to go to school and become great in future. We have begun preparations to financially assist several of these children to achieve their dreams by enrolling them in lessons and registering them for the WAEC and JAMB examinations.

STOG Missions further seeks to empower the parents of many of these children to enable them better cater to the needs of their children and support them academically. We believe readers and leaders thus, the significance of formal education can not be overemphasized.

Good to say, it wasn’t all tears at the REVAMP outreach program. The children got to laugh, mingle with friends, dance, eat good food, play games and have fun. We are certain GOD has so much in store for these children whose gifts currently lay untapped and we hope their flames of hope does not go off. The Mission continously seeks to extend hope and make an impact in the lives of many street children in days to come.
