National Prayer Walk 2022

The Prayer Walk is a non-denominational movement that started in 2017. However, it wasn’t until 2018, that the first Prayer Walk was held in Oyo state. The walk is held, every first Saturday of the month of October, whether it falls on independence day or not. Today, the Prayer Walk has expanded to the 36 states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and has thus become a nationwide movement. Every state has a coordinator, all working in line with the vision of the national coordinator, Sinmisola Alao, to enforce the will of the kingdom of Heaven upon our land.

The vision is  to have a gathering of believers across every tribe and every city, coming together with one voice to intercede for our nation and pray for our leaders. It is not a political movement but rather, our responsible response to the challenges and issues ravaging our land. We have had people from other religions join this movement to walk and pray for the revival and manifestation of the greatness of Nigeria. Over the years, we have received answers from Heaven and have seen the manifestation of God’s power, when people gather to pray. The just concluded National Prayer Walk 2022, was no exception.

On the 1st of October 2022, we walked and we prayed and the gates of hell could not prevail! The Prayer Walk movement saw over one hundred and fifty thousand citizens across the 36 states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, walking and praying for the good of our land. Come rain, come sunshine, we walked and prayed undetered, saying; “enough is enough! We are tired of the poor situation of things in the nation”. We refused to be silent or merely complain and do nothing. So we took to the streets, walked and prayed and we are assured that a new dawn is here!

Like every movement, the Prayer Walk has been met with some resistance and challenges. The threat of insecurity and violence has risen over time but GOD has always been our protector and has helped us organize the movement in such a way that it’s not hijacked by others with contrary motives. I remember walking down the street in Lagos during the just concluded Prayer Walk, heavily drenched by the rain, yet, praying fervently with a troop of other believers, while a man stood under the heavy outpour, angrily protesting against the movement. Of course, while some may disregard the movement as an excersise in futility, many others, passer-bys and even the ‘agberos’ on the streets, moved by the cause, do join us, walking and praying for the good and prosperity of Nigeria. At this juncture, it is with delight and thanksgiving to GOD that I share the testimony of a mad man on the streets of Ibadan, whom was healed by the power of GOD as we walked and prayed within the vicinity. It is evident without doubt, that the grace and sure mercies of GOD has begun manifesting in every home, every city and every sector of our nation Nigeria.

The Prayer Walk is an ongoing movement. We will continue to walk and to pray across the 36 states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We must not relent in our corporate fight for the good and revival of our nation. Though, the National Prayer Walk Movement is held every first Saturday of the month of October, prayers extend beyond the walk and are held all through the year as determined by each state coordinator.

Finally, just as the Bible admonishes in Jeremiah 29:7 (NIV); “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.” For the sake of my brothers and friends, I will say, “Peace be within you.” For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your prosperity.”

I encourage us to; “Pray for Nigeria’s well-being. If things go well for Nigeria, things will go well for you”.
